English

:( I have a C+ in English. This sucks bad. I haven't done any writing this weekend- no NaNo planning, no poetry, no prose. I don't even know why I'm in honors anything. The Popcorn Fest was fun though. I bought a candle . . . Yay. It smells good. *_* I'm sad.

Run-Ons

Yay, I have a party today! Therefore I will not eat the whole day so I can eat at the party without feeling guilty because I hate the gym and I hate going to it. Can you say run-on? Ha. That probably doesn't sound too good when I write it. Oh well, I'll just play basketball outside.
I guess I'll be going now . . . Happy Labor Day everyone!

Sleep Over!

Well, Sydney slept over last night. That's about all that happened to me. Yep. Exciting.
I don't have any homework, so that's good. I read about a hundred pages last night of Atlas Shrugged which was really good. I am really hungry- my family went out to Buffalouie's (my favorite restaurant) but all the food is really crappy for you there. -sigh- I feel really bad for everyone in Football and Cross Country. They had to run yesteday. Ha ha.
I may as well do some planning for NaNo. Darn- I'm really not looking forward to planning. The actual writing is going to be real fun though. Charlotte is all done for now- I'm seeing her in my sleep now, so that's probably a good sign. Onto Alec, the only other main character.
Uhh . . . I'm too lazy to get my poetry notebook out so I guess no poetry for you today. Poor you. (sarcasm)
My cat's lonely. I should probably go feed him. Bye!

Ew, I have a States and Capitals test tomorrow. Ick. Gross.
Barack Obama is a really good public speaker. I'm watching the convention right now, and his speech is fantastic! Well, my dad just said it was lackluster. I thought it was pretty good.
Seriously, we're like a week into school and I had five things of homework today. :P Hmm . . . I only wrote four poems today. I'm slowing down, mostly because of homework and crap like that. Sigh, well at least we have pictures tomorrow. I can write then.
Crap, what am i going to wear?! Oh no!
Yikes, I have eight voice songs to work on. This is crazy. The songs are Think of Me, A Lass from the Low Countree, Come Again My Love, Still, In His Eyes, Once Upon a Dream, Evensong, and Wishing you Were Somehow Here Again. Holy. Crap.
Another poem, once again (poor man) copyrighted. Hee hee.

"Superman"

I cannot be Superman for you
but if I were able
I would do it in a heartbeat
I'd fly across the sky for you
I'd swim across the ocean blue
I'd walk the lands forevermore
I'd lay down upon the shore
but all these things
I'd only do
for you
and me
We'll always be.

Oh ho ho! It actually is happy. Go me!

Beginning of School

So we're back to school once more. -sigh- At least I get to see my friends everyday! Unfortunately, that also means seeing . . . other people too. Yay.
I got 17/30 on a test in English- my best subject. I feel like crying. This sucks. Not a good way to start a year. I also found out we're not doing any creative writing this year- no poetry or short stories, nothing! -sobs- I'm going to FAIL! :( That's the only thing I'm good at in English.
Screw grammar. I want to WRITE!
Kathryn dared me to fill up an entire Five Subject notebook with poetry this year. I'm almost done with the first subject. Take THAT!
NaNo planning is going good, I haven't done much, but Charlotte's character section is almost finished. I have a whole honking binder full of plot, characters, and setting. Wow, I am SUCH a loser.
Do you know what is a really good book so far? Atlas Shrugged. I started reading it this summer, thinking it would be tedious, but it's fantastic! It is sort of tedious, but only because the book is so big!
And now, a sample of my poetry. I have this (poor man) copyrighted. Haha.

"Tomorrow's Coming"

It'll be better tomorrow
they say
And all of our troubles
Will go away
The clouds won't leave
tomorrow, they say
But they'll be white
instead of gray
Tomorrow's coming-
Tomorrow's here!
But sadly somehow
Tomorrow never gets here.

I know you all (oh who am I fooling, no one reads this blog) were thinking, "Oh my god, she actually is writing a not depressing poem!" but I totally tricked you in the end. Haha.

NaNo

Well, NaNo's coming up. Yikes, I'm SO nervous. Hopefully I'll be better this time. I've been planning lately; I have an entire binder dedicated to this story. It's called "Follow" and it is science fiction/dystopian fiction. Haha, this is going to be a really fun story to write. I'm excited. See ya guys- I have to go watch the Olympics!!!

The Fall of Rome

Amongst the run-of-the-mill car dealerships and the occasional forlorn hotel, the colorful billboards that crop up every so often are about the most interesting thing that Indiana has to offer. The stretch of highway that is 1-94 seems like it should be a typical example of American life.
Unfortunately, it is.
I stared out my window at the random car or two that passed by, wondering when the trip would be over. I could not take much more of the cooped up car. Luckily, my time in the car was almost at its end. We were only about thirty miles away from our house. 'We' in question was my dad, sister, and brother.
I was desperate for something to do. My sister was driving me up the wall with her annoying Nintendo DS sounds and my brother was snoring. I could not take much more of my dad's CD. Believe it or not, Neil Diamond actually does get old. I took to staring out my window at the billboards.
Perhaps it was the three "Empress Casino" signs offering 90,000 dollars that first caught my attention. Or maybe it was "Beck's Beer- Please Drink Responsibly". All I know, looking back upon it, was that as I got closer and closer to home, the signs got worse and worse. I was certainly interested in "Atlantis Stripclub". Hopefully, they'll sink to and they'll become a myth. But only if we're lucky.
It seemed that every quarter mile, there was another Krazy Kaplan's Fireworks sign -- twelve in all. The "Horseshoe Casino" advertisements were probably the prettiest ones that I saw. I wish I had seen more than five. The sign advertising Paintball was bleak and dull, but the topic was certainly interesting.
Above all, the best sign I saw was definitely the Indiana Welcome Center sign- the row of seven toilets and "Can't Hold It?" certainly made me glad to be home. The three Cigarette Outlet billboards lit up the gloomy day like a beacon. By the end of the highway, I had lost track of all the casino signs (to name a few, Blue Chip Casino, Four Winds Casino, Majestic Star).
The lovely Hooters sign with the woman in the skimpy, skin tight top made me wonder how many accidents had happened on this highway involving distracted men. I especially loved the "Wanted for Child Molestation" sign. It's good to know I can feel safe in my community.
The numerous fireworks signs made me wonder about the need of fireworks (Shelton's and Direct from China Fireworks were two of many) in this sort of beautiful, springy weather. The title of Strangest Billboard on my vacation goes to (drumroll please) "Wild Game, Exotic Meat" with the picture of a Chinese man on the front. It's always good if no one can tell what you're selling.
The two Adult Superstores would certainly be getting a lot of business as long as their billboards were still up. No one would have found them anyways. They were probably located on some creepy back road. I enjoyed the billboards of the closeups on "Showgirls'" cleavage. Highlight of my trip. It was curiously ironic that the Harley Davidson sign came right after it- talk about juxtaposition.
I really loved the "Bedwetting- Neep help?" sign the most of all. Thank God the number was in big letters. I'll be sure to call that number soon. And last of all, "Industrial 'Strip'" lost no meaning, thanks to the scantily clad woman on the billboard.
All in all, I was glad to get home. I definitely did not want to see any more fireworks, near naked woman, or casinos for a long, long time. The experience told me a lot about America. I-94 really is the classic American highway.
The fall of Rome is indeed upon us.

AAU

Do you know what I hate? Basketball. I'm really sick of it at this point. I just had a whole season and now my dad is making me do AAU. Grrr. I don't even want to do AAU. I'd much rather be playing golf right now. I hate basketball. Our first practice is tomorrow- over spring break. Ick. I want to play GOLF right now! Not basketball!

Too Tired to Type a Title

Ick. Do you know what I hate? Editing. That's what I hate. If I could eliminate one thing in this world, it would probably be editing. Everything you write would just come out perfect the first time through. Wouldn't that be nice? I would definitely have a lot more time to sleep . . . oh well, wishful thinking again. *sighs*
So, I'm working on the Canvas again. Yay. x_x I'm really starting to hate that book, but I am determined to finish it. I'm already 50,000 words through. I can do this! Right now, I'm currently filling in plot holes with my handy bucket of cement and my paint brush- er, computer. Yeah. I'm not procrastinating. I swear. Really. I'm not.
During JanNo, I skipped around a lot with my writing because I didn't want to get writers block. So now I have a total crapload of a story that I have to rearrange, edit, finish, and sort out what I need to write. GAR!!!!!!! At least I have all of Spring Break *glances surreptitiously outside my window* Yeah, right.
Oh my god. I just typed that last sentence as "Yeah, write" originally. I'm going insane.

Brackets

:( Notre Dame is out of the tournament. It was actually pretty sad to watch. But on the bright side, Michigan State and Xavier are still in!
While me and my friend were hanging out, we found this cool tournament that is . . . well, WAY more important than basketball. But not that much. Anyways, it's a bracket with the 64 most influential people in history. Here's the link. Have fun!
But then, we got inspired by that, and decided to make a bracket of our own. It has the 64 most popular fictional characters. Guess who won? Darth Vader. I never said it was most loved, it was most popular! This is the link. If you happen to see this blog, please leave me a message about it. We'd love to hear some comments!
